We are a community of like-minded but extraordinary Nigerians at heart and we seek to collaborate and create a space where we can express and experience the beauty of home away from home. Think food, music and camaraderie. Truth is, the NaijaSauce hits differently and cannot be found just anywhere. We sincerely believe that it is only a Nigerian at heart that can understand and create the beauty of Naija away from home. I know we’ve got some real issues back home but that does not negate the fact that we Nigerians are actually unique and extraordinary in a lot of amazing things. From our talents to our food, music and lifestyle, Naija is exceptional and that is not even a rose-tinted eyeglass discovery. It is a true reality. And that is why at myNigeria.NL, we seek to create a space where we can collaborate and network to recreate and reinvent some beautiful and unique Naija Experience while also fully integrating into our new life and culture here in the Netherlands.
MyNigeria.NL was born out of passion to make it easier for Nigerian expats to integrate into the Dutch culture whilst also ensuring that we do not miss out too much on the beauty and uniqueness that is Nigeria, at it’s core.

Meet Ijeoma - Founder, myNigeria.NL
Hi, I’m Ijeoma and I am a firm believer in the power of collaboration, support, networking and collective problem solving.
When I first moved to the Netherlands in 2020, I had to navigate settling into a whole new continent with a different language and rebuilding the foundations for my career, parenting and entire visionary life, by myself. While I made some really good progress in these areas of my life, I missed the strong support and homelife that I had back in Nigeria and I craved to recreate it in the Netherlands, since I am here to make the Netherlands my home.
That was the beginning of the idea that is now myNigeria.NL community, which started as events aimed at providing information that will help us settle in nicely into the Netherlands, without feeling overwhelmed, all alone and missing home terribly.
As a wife, mom of 2 boys, a multiexpressive techie and a multipassionate visionary with endless dreams, and having interacted with a couple of folks who also wished for that strong supportive Nigerian network, a network that is US, I have found that taking these steps to build this community is essentially a strong leap in the right direction of solving this problem. What’s more? I am a resource person at heart and a passionate problem solver and in creating this community, these gifts all come to play so I find myself doing it with joy.
The first event for myNigeria.NL held on April 30 with lots of feedback on how helpful and timely it was. And we are on schedule to hold many more monthly events
I’m glad that finally, a lot of us Nigerians, both those on ground already in the Netherlands and others coming after us, don’t have to make countless and sometimes costly mistakes figuring stuff like taxpaying, house buying, GWE, dutch schooling system etc. I’m glad that we can find collective ways to enjoy our unique Naija life vis a vis Nigerian food, music, football geng etc, And this is because this community is here to collaboratively act as that hub that provides these experiences for us. We are all doing it together for us by us
