Tips that can Help you Get a Job in the Netherlands

Searching for a Job in the Netherlands? The following tips can help you

Get a volunteer job and an NGO is a good place to start. Recruiters like to know that you got busy while searching for a job. It tells them you are serious-minded about giving value. You can also volunteer with start-up organizations that don’t have alot of money to pay yet. And even with the big organizations that have volunteering role. Bottom line- Find somewhere good and start giving value.

Make your LinkedIn work for you. This is not even the age to have a blank or scanty LinkedIn page. On your LinkedIn page, add details like your current location (which should be set to Netherlands), your language skills, your work experiences including the volunteer roles you decide to take on. Finally activate your open to work feature without the badge. The badge has a way of making one look desperate and we think it doesn’t always sit right with recruiters

Update your CV and hone in on a specialization. We know you want to be have more options open by generalizing but it does more harm then good. And it reduces your bargaining power. Except you are applying for jobs that don’t require your mental prowess, in which case a more generalized CV might work (and you don’t even need a tailored CV per se in most cases for these kinds of jobs), if you are going to have a CV, have one that focuses on a specific niche or around a niche. This will improve your chances.

There is power in referral. Always look to see if there is someone you know that already works in the company. If not, ask around the circle of people who already know you for people they might know who already work in the company you are applying to. This is one reason you should be part of the myNigeria.NL community. You have more access to someone who knows someone who knows another person. But ensure that you have a track record that will speak for themselves and when someone recommends you, remember they did it at a risk and honor them

Finally, Keep applying and praying. One day, it will come through.
